Who We Are

Orakei Open is a V1 waka ama race series operated by Orakei Water Sports, based in Auckland, New Zealand. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this platform.

What We Collect

Full name

Used to identify you in race registrations and public results.

Email address

Used for account login and race communications.

Club affiliation

Required to verify WANZ membership eligibility.

Race category

Used to enter you in the correct competitive division.

Race results

Recorded per race and published on the public leaderboard.

Why We Collect It

To manage race registrations and verify paddler eligibility.

To calculate and publish series standings and leaderboard results.

To communicate race briefs, schedule changes, and results to registered paddlers.

We only collect information that is necessary for the above purposes.

How It's Stored

Data is stored securely using Supabase — a managed cloud database platform hosted on AWS infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit.

Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored or transmitted in plain text.

We do not store payment details. Entry fee payments are handled separately and no card or banking information is held by Orakei Water Sports.

Who Can Access It

Public: Race results and series leaderboard standings are visible to anyone visiting the site.

Private: Your email address, password, and account details are accessible only to you and authorised series administrators. Administrators may access personal data only for the purposes described in this policy.

Your Rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate data, and request deletion of your data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@orakeiopen.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days.

Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. Data is shared only with service providers (such as Supabase) that are necessary to operate the platform, under equivalent data protection obligations.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
