SERIES RULES
Everything you need to know about the race format, points, and prizes.
Race Format
Each race is an individual V1 (single outrigger canoe) event. Distance varies between races depending on conditions. Start times and course briefings will be communicated ahead of each race day.
Categories
Age determined as of race day. Junior paddlers may choose to compete in Premier categories.
Points System
All Races Count
Every race. Every point. The paddler who shows up and competes and accumulates the most points wins the series.
Prize Eligibility
You must complete a minimum of 3 out of 5 races to be eligible for series prizes.
Tiebreaker
Applied in order:
- Most 1st-place finishes
- Most 2nd-place finishes
- Most 3rd-place finishes
Prize Money
Prize money awarded to the series points winner in each category. Prizes paid at the series prize-giving following Race 5.
Eligibility & Registration
- Club affiliation required — paddlers must be a registered member of a Waka Ama club.
- Entry fee: $50 per paddler per race, paid at registration.
- Paddlers must register in the correct age category.
