TERMS & CONDITIONS

Please read these terms carefully before registering for the Orakei Open race series.

1. Entry & Eligibility

All paddlers must hold a valid WANZ Paddler ID number to enter and compete in the Orakei Open. By completing registration and payment you confirm you are eligible to compete in your selected category.

2. Waiver

All paddlers are required to sign a physical waiver form on race day before competing. Paddlers under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver on their behalf. No paddler will be permitted to race without a signed waiver.

3. Safety

All paddlers must pass a safety check before racing. Safety checks open at 7:30am on race day. Paddlers who have not completed a safety check will not be permitted to start.

4. Race Briefing

All paddlers must attend the race briefing or ensure a representative attends on their behalf. The race briefing is mandatory — failure to attend may result in disqualification.

5. Cancellation & Refunds

The Orakei Open Race Committee reserves the right to postpone, modify, or cancel any race if weather or safety conditions are deemed unsafe. In the event of a race cancellation, entry fees will not be refunded but will be carried over as credit toward the next race in the series. If no further races remain in the series, the Race Committee will determine an appropriate resolution on a case-by-case basis.

6. Disqualification

The Race Committee reserves the right to disqualify any paddler who fails to meet the conditions of entry, behaves in an unsportsmanlike manner, or presents false information. Entry fees are non-refundable in cases of disqualification.

7. Course & Conditions

The course is subject to change based on weather and safety conditions. The final course will be confirmed at the race briefing. Paddlers are responsible for knowing the course before racing.

8. Prize Eligibility

Paddlers must complete a minimum of 3 out of 5 races to be eligible for series prizes. Prize money will be awarded to 1st place in each category, provided a minimum of 10 paddlers have competed in each division.
