TERMS & CONDITIONS
Please read these terms carefully before registering for the Orakei Open race series.
01
Acceptance
By registering for the Orakei Open race series you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions in full. If you do not accept these terms, do not complete registration.
02
Eligibility
Paddlers must be a financial member of a WANZ-affiliated club at the time of each race.
Paddlers must register in the correct age category. Juniors are J19 and under; Premier is 19 and over. Age is determined as of race day.
Junior paddlers may choose to compete up in Premier categories. Premier paddlers may not compete down in Junior categories.
03
Entry Fee
The entry fee is $50 per paddler per race, payable at registration.
Entry fees are non-refundable unless the race is cancelled by the organisers. In the event of cancellation, fees for that race will be refunded in full.
04
Race Rules
Races are conducted in V1 (single rudderless Va'a) class only. No other craft are permitted.
Paddlers must follow all on-water safety instructions issued by race officials at all times. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
The series organisers reserve the right to disqualify any paddler for unsportsmanlike conduct, rule breaches, or any behaviour deemed to be unsafe or detrimental to the event.
05
Points & Results
Points are awarded per the published points system. Best 4 of 5 race results count toward the series total; the worst result is automatically dropped.
Series results are considered provisional until ratified by the race director. Once ratified, results are final and no further appeals will be considered.
06
Prizes
Prize money is awarded to the series points winner in each category following the final race of the series.
Prizes will be presented at the official prize-giving following Race 5.
Winners must be present at the prize-giving, or have made prior written arrangements with the organisers, to claim their prize. Unclaimed prizes will be donated to the host club.
07
Liability
Participation in the Orakei Open race series is entirely at your own risk. Orakei Water Sports, its officials, and volunteers accept no liability for any injury, loss, or damage sustained by any participant during training, racing, or any associated event activity.
08
Disqualification
Falsifying club affiliation, age category, or any other registration information will result in immediate disqualification from the series, forfeiture of all accumulated points and prizes, and may be referred to WANZ for further action.
09

By entering the Orakei Open race series you consent to photographs, video footage, and other media taken at or during the event being used by Orakei Water Sports for promotional, social media, and reporting purposes without further notice or compensation.
